IC Information

Name: Suki
Age: 17
Canon: ATLA
Canon Point: Suki is brought in just after ‘The Promise’ trilogy
Physical Description: X X X X

Possessions: war fan, katana, and Kyoshi Warrior uniform
Companion: --

Personality: Both a warrior and a woman, Suki is an incredibly dedicated leader, loyal friend, brave fighter, and member of Team Avatar. Generally a happy and content girl who enjoys being with her friends, she is also fierce and a formidable opponent.

Born and raised on Kyoshi island, Suki began her training at eight years old and over time became a master tessenjutsu artist, or fan warrior. As the oldest member of the Kyoshi Warriors, she naturally took on the leadership role. Physically, she is very agile, stealthy, and strong. Though she sports a slight figure that makes her quick and light on her feet, she has proven to be able to overcome men much larger than her in hand to hand combat; for example, she easily detained the warden of the Boiling Rock prison after a feat of acrobatics during which she leapt over a crowd of rioting inmates and easily scaled a vertical wall. During their escape, she held her own against Ty Lee on a teetering gondola, seemingly evenly matched throughout most of the battle.

As a warrior, Suki is very brave and assertive, unafraid to speak her mind or take up her role as leader very seriously. Determined and a very clearly a woman of action, she enjoys seeing things brought to fruition and is eager to see plans--even Sokka’s seemingly silly ones-- through to the end. When violently separated from Toph and Sokka during the climax of the hundred year war when their war balloon was destroted, Suki pushed through and returned just in time to rescue the two from falling to their deaths. She keeps a level head when faced with adversity and is willing to do whatever she can to help the others. She is very protective. Multiple times, Suki is seen protecting her friends, and after the War, she is invited by Mai to become head of Zuko’s personal guard, a role that she takes very seriously, even overstepping her bounds at times as a simple guard and taking his emotional state into regard as well, openly telling him how concerned she is, personally, as well as part of his escort, and following him, despite his wishes. Her role as the head of his personal guard secures her forgiving nature toward the fire nation; though her home was severely oppressed, she displays an honorable courage in relinquishing any grudge in order to help a friend, and in turn, his people, while aiding the Avatar's hope in restoring balance.

Her warrior’s pride aside, Suki is very much a compassionate girl, though she often reserves this softer side of her for her friends, and more openly, Sokka. She holds a high esteem for her boyfriend, going so far as to hold out in hopes that he will rescue her from the Boiling Rock and finding his somewhat embarrassing antics ‘sweet’. She even goes so far as to encourage his goofy behavior (ex. getting him backstage to talk to his actor-double during the show on Ember Island). She is, in fact, very feminine and proud of it, though her pride as a female fighter is very clear; at first, she rebukes Sokka easily and takes great pleasure in humiliating him when he openly resents being bested by a ‘group of girls’ during their first meeting. Suki does tend to hold grudges, though they fade over time; for example, she cooly taunts Zuko while they are in prison about their very first encounter. She does, however, display ready forgiveness; despite Ty Lee's earlier status as an enemy opposing both herself and the Kyoshi Warriors, she welcomes the chi blocker into the group after the war is ended, and is shown later in the promise with the other girl at her right hand as Zuko's guard at night outside his bedroom.

Though she grows close to the entirety of team avatar, it is clear throughout the series that her deepest relationship is that between her and Sokka. After capturing Sokka, Aang, and Katara and later setting them free once she learned Aang was the avatar, her friendship with Sokka deepened, though not without trial at first. His sexist comments drew her to display her skills as a warrior in front of the other Kyoshi Warriors, which impressed the boy and eventually led to his asking to be taught. Suki, as leader of the Warriors and teacher, readily accepted him--but only after he agreed to do things in the traditional manner. Later, during the fire nation's raid of Kyoshi Island, it became clear that Suki held more than amusement for the young water tribe man when she reminded him that she was not only a warrior, but a girl too. She kissed his cheek, leaving him blushing, and though separated during a large portion of the GAang's travels (even after the war is over), Suki continues to hold her boyfriend in high regard, impressed by his ideas and fond of his casual and playful attitude.

Her skillset not only includes her fan weapon, but also the art of the katana and, more recently, the chi blocking she learned when Ty Lee joined the Kyoshi warriors after the war. Her skills, unfortunately, do not include the repertoire of jokes that her boyfriend sports (ex. Her mockery of the fallen firelord Ozai), though she is graced with an easy tolerance and taste for Sokka’s enthusiastic remarks.

"What..."

Suki stood under the large golden statue of Fire Lord Zuko, blinking up at the scarred face of her current charge--or at least, who was supposed to be her current charge. She certainly didn't remember this city, nor did she think she could have not heard about a large monument being erected in his honor. No... There was no way she could have missed something like that. None of this made sense: the city, the people, the strange... 'satomobiles' she had thought someone had called one... the huge statues of her friends.

It seemed as though she had missed out on quite a lot.

Her day had become more and more bizarre as she explored the new place she had woken up in. A few things seemed familiar; bending, at least, didn't seem too uncommon, and most of the food smelled the same... Clothing styles, without a doubt, had changed, and the buildings were certainly not what she was used to. Transportation baffled her--no palanquins, fewer animals...barely anyone was flitting about on a glider or dropping down from rooftops-- and made her long for Sokka's presence; he would definitely be beside himself to see how these admittedly beautiful vehicles worked.

At first unwilling to approach anyone--she should at least try to figure out where she was on her own-- the warrior moved quietly through the streets, doing her best to ignore the odd looks she was receiving (her makeup did suddenly feel very heavy and out of place), but all the while keeping herself alert--though nothing seemed too dangerous, she was someplace new, and as a warrior, couldn't let herself be too far off her guard.

When her wandering had led her to what was labeled the Southern Water Tribe Cultural Center, she finally gave up trying to sort through everything all at once and any sort of brave front she might have held, and instead found herself trapped, gleaning the stares of many an onlooker by gaping openly at another massive statue of a man proudly raising a boomerang above his head, the inscription below it reading a name she knew oh too well.

"...Sokka...?"

"Chief Sokka of the Southern Water Tribe, miss," a voice nearby corrected. After a few more long seconds of shocked admiring, the girl turned to the older woman who had appeared beside her, his arms stacked high with books. The look on her face must have been rather humorous, as the woman giggled softly and knowingly. "I understand most thought he was a rather handsome and ingenious man... he certainly had a reputation with the ladies, if I'm recalling history as well as I should..."

Unable to stop herself, Suki laughed in disbelief, her arms limp at her sides as she turned her gaze upward once more.

She now knew she absolutely had to be dreaming.
